Fridge Broke After Just One Year

Just as I thought I wasn’t having bad luck for a week or two, the fridge broke. This is the one I bought literally just over a year ago.
Currys own brand “Essentials” brand. Awful if it can’t even last a year!
I know that budget brands often don’t last long, but that is a luxury I can’t afford to choose. I didn’t have the choice or this one or that, I had the choice of “which is the cheapest with the features and size I need?” And that was Currys own brand.

If you are looking for a fridge, I would recommend you avoid Currys own Essentials brand. Some others on Twitter told me the same. Spend a bit more and get something that won’t die after 1 year.

So now just a tiny bit over a year later and I have ANOTHER broken fridge that I cannot afford to replace whatsoever.

To make it worse, I only got my old fridge removed about 2 or 3 months ago after sitting in the garden for about 11 months due to not being able to afford the £20 Currys fee to take it away, nor the £25 council fee to get rid of it either.
I couldn’t list it as broken on sites such as Freecycle either to get rid of it as they don’t allow posts like that in case people fly tip (I tried), so it sat in my garden for a long time. Almost long enough for the new one to die!

I have no luck in life. None. This is just yet another thing I can’t afford to repair, but this I can’t just ignore. I NEED a replacement asap.

I have checked all my usual places, Facebook marketplace, Facebook groups, Freecycle, Freegle, charity shops in a large radius of here and called some charities that don’t have branches to ask if they know anywhere.
I emailed other charity shops outside of my area too. I spend 2 days contacting places.

I found 1 used fridge costing more than a new one, and one a bit cheaper that again was collect only.
No others. None free and none deliverable.
The charity shops even said they don’t deliver. One said they would deliver for a fee of £30 (which is huge) but they had no fridges in anyway.

If I get a replacement fridge, it would also have to be able to delivered, which no one does for used white goods. They want you to collect for obvious reasons.

I would like to get a replacement fridge the same as this ,which is undercounter, specific width (or it won’t fit), with a freezer compartment (not an icebox which isn’t safe for frozen food as isn’t rated the same.)
It NEEDS to be delivered and preferable take the old one away too otherwise it will be in the garden again for another 11 months!

I will aim for cheapest again, although I would prefer NOT to get Currys Essentials brand again if possible, which is what this one is that made it just 1 year. A branded one isn’t much more, but is more than Essentials brand. My goal is just for the cheap awful Currys brand, but would prefer not to get this.

I have a Ko-Fi donation page if anyone wishes to donate towards one, or you can donate at the bottom of the page.
I have the goal public and you can see all donations too.

This is taking priority over heat which is what I was trying to get money for as I can’t afford to put the heating on even though its freezing, which I can also not afford whatsoever even though freezing, (quite literally) to death.
I have winter indoors at temps 3c-5c inside (it’s 4c inside right now), and was hoping to raise money for heating (I didn’t raise anything) but now am changing goal to a replacement fridge as this is more urgent, even though the cold could actually kill me.

I find it horrible to even ask.
So embarrassing and awkward to the point I often re-share my Ko-fi link, then delete it as I feel bad asking for help.
When I do share, I rarely get anywhere with it and that isn’t complaining, just stating facts. Not sure why though.

You might think that I always seem to be, what I guess is called “crowdfunding” (sharing my Ko-Fi donation link), but that is because I can’t afford to live and I NEED heat, food and a fridge. £300 a month doesn’t cover anything!
I have no relatives alive and can’t work. I am already doing more than I should to try to earn money and paying for it with severe pain, fatigue and being bedbound.

I hate to even ask as it is excruciatingly embarrassing to have to ask for help.
I don’t get many donations, and that isn’t complaining!! I am just stating that I rarely get any help so I have no money for this, and that is why I am asking for help now as if I don’t ask, there is 0 chance I will get help, but if I ask, I might get a little towards it. I have to try as there is no other way!
(You can see all my donations on Ko-Fi, not the amounts, but they are usually £5).

I have one kind disabled friend who just gave me £10 towards the fridge, so I have £10 towards it now. I always tell this kind person that they never need to donate anything as they are disabled too and don’t want them to struggle.
Make sure you can afford to donate if you wish to help.

If you wish to help but can’t afford to, sharing is FREE and helps a lot!
You can share this post or my Ko-Fi page, or my tweets about it. Any sharing helps.

Thank you so much if you do try to help, and if not, no worries. Thank you for reading.
